๐ค weixin-ai-bridge - Connect WeChat to AI Fast

๐ฆ What this app does
weixin-ai-bridge lets your WeChat account talk to AI tools through one simple setup. It acts like a bridge between WeChat and AI services such as Claude Code, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Ollama.
You can use it to:
- Send a message in WeChat and get an AI reply
- Connect one chat flow to different AI providers
- Keep your day-to-day chat use in one place
- Run it on your own Windows PC
๐ฅ๏ธ What you need
Before you start, make sure your Windows PC has:
- Windows 10 or Windows 11
- A stable internet connection
- A WeChat account that can sign in on desktop
- At least 4 GB of RAM
- Enough free disk space for the app and its data
- Access to the AI service you want to use
If you plan to use a local model, such as Ollama, your PC should have more memory and a bit more CPU power. If you use a cloud AI service, your normal home or office PC is enough.
โฌ๏ธ Download the app
Go to this page to download and set up the app:
Download weixin-ai-bridge
If you see a Releases page or a packaged Windows file, download that file to your PC. If the page shows the source code only, use the latest release package when it is available.
๐งญ Install on Windows
Follow these steps:
- Open the download page in your browser.
- Find the latest Windows build or release package.
- Download the file to your computer.
- If the file is a ZIP package, right-click it and choose Extract All.
- Open the extracted folder.
- Look for the main app file, such as an
.exe file.
- Double-click the file to start the app.
- If Windows asks for permission, choose Yes.
- Keep the app open while you use WeChat with AI.
If the app includes an installer, run the installer first and follow the on-screen steps. If it is a portable version, you do not need to install it. You can run it from the folder after extraction.
โ๏ธ First-time setup
After you open the app, complete these steps:
- Sign in to WeChat on your computer.
- Open the app settings.
- Choose the AI service you want to use.
- Paste your API key if you use a cloud AI provider.
- If you use Ollama, enter the local address for your model service.
- Save the settings.
- Send a test message from WeChat.
- Check that the AI reply comes back in the chat.
Use one AI provider at a time when you first start. That makes setup easier. After it works, you can adjust the settings for your own use.
๐งฉ Supported AI services
This app is built to work with several AI back ends:
- Claude Code
- OpenAI
- Anthropic
- Ollama
Each service needs a different setup path:
- Cloud services need an API key
- Local services need a local model app running on your PC
- Some services may ask for a model name
- Some may ask for a base URL or endpoint
If you use a cloud provider, keep your API key private. If you use a local model, make sure the model app is already running before you start the bridge.
๐ฌ How to use it
Once setup is done:
- Open WeChat on your PC
- Send a message to the connected chat flow
- The bridge sends the text to your AI provider
- The AI response comes back in WeChat
- Continue the chat as normal
You can use it for:
- Quick answers
- Draft replies
- Translation help
- Simple task support
- Personal AI chat inside WeChat
Keep your prompts short at first. That helps you check that the connection works.
๐ ๏ธ Common setup fields
You may see these fields during setup:
- API Key: your secret access key for the AI service
- Base URL: the web address for the AI endpoint
- Model: the model name you want to use
- Timeout: how long the app waits for a reply
- Proxy: network path used in some office or school setups
- Auto Start: starts the bridge when Windows starts
If you are not sure what to enter, begin with the default value shown in the app and test the connection.
๐ Typical Windows flow
A simple daily flow looks like this:
- Turn on your PC
- Start weixin-ai-bridge
- Open WeChat and sign in
- Check that the AI service is online
- Send a message in WeChat
- Read the AI reply
- Close the app when you are done
If the app stops working after a restart, open it again before you use WeChat.
๐งช Quick test
Use this test to check your setup:
- Start the app
- Open WeChat
- Send: ไฝ ๅฅฝ
- Wait for a reply
- If you get a response, the bridge works
If no reply comes back:
- Check that the app is still open
- Check your internet connection
- Check your API key or local model service
- Try again with a short message
๐ Privacy and account safety
Use your own AI account settings and keep your keys private. Do not share your API key in chat or in screenshots. If you use a local model with Ollama, the data stays on your PC unless your own setup sends it out to another service.
๐งฐ Troubleshooting
App will not open
- Try running it as administrator
- Check if Windows blocked the file
- Re-download the package if the file looks broken
- Make sure you extracted the ZIP file first
WeChat does not reply
- Check that WeChat is signed in on desktop
- Make sure the bridge app is running
- Check the AI provider settings
- Test your API key again
- Restart both WeChat and the bridge
AI replies are slow
- Cloud services can slow down when the network is busy
- Local models can slow down on older PCs
- Close heavy apps if your PC is under load
- Try a smaller model if you use Ollama
Connection fails
- Confirm the Base URL is correct
- Check for firewall rules
- Check your proxy settings
- Make sure the service allows requests from your PC
๐ Suggested folder use
If you run a portable build, keep the files in one folder, such as:
Do not move files around after setup unless you know the app path still points to the right place. If you make a shortcut, place it on your Desktop or in your Start Menu for easy access.
๐งญ Basic setup path for beginners
If you want the shortest path on Windows, use this order:
- Open the download page
- Get the Windows package
- Extract it if needed
- Run the app
- Enter your AI settings
- Start WeChat
- Send a test message
That is enough to get the bridge running for most users
๐ File types you may see
The download may include one of these:
.exe for a Windows app or installer
.zip for a packaged build
.msi for a Windows installer
.json or .env for settings
README.md for use notes
If you see a ZIP file, extract it before you run anything inside it. If you see an installer, run the installer first.
๐ง Tips for a smooth first run
- Use one AI service first
- Keep your first test short
- Save your settings before you close the app
- Leave the bridge running while you chat
- Use the latest release if one is available
- Restart the app after changing key settings
๐ช Windows shortcut steps
If you want quick access:
- Find the app file
- Right-click it
- Choose Create shortcut
- Move the shortcut to your Desktop
- Rename it if you want
This makes it easier to start the bridge each day.
๐ฌ Where to get updates
Check the repository page for new releases, fixes, and build updates:
Visit the weixin-ai-bridge repository
If a new version appears, download it the same way and replace your old app files if the release notes say to do so.
