# Create package.json for keeping dependencies
npm init
# Creating a new astro project
npm create astro@latest
# Dive into the newly created folder
cd astro-starter
# Add Svelte to the astro project
npx astro add svelte
# Add Tailwind to the astro project
npx astro add tailwind
# Install the DaisyUI dependency
npm i -D daisyui@latest
Now make sure that DaisyUI is picked up by Tailwind, this can be done by making sure the tailwind.config.mjs
contains atleast the following plugin.
import daisyui from "daisyui"
export default {
//...
plugins: [daisyui],
}
Inside of your Astro project, you'll see the following folders and files:
/
āāā public/
ā āāā favicon.svg
āāā src/
ā āāā components/
ā ā āāā Card.astro
ā āāā layouts/
ā ā āāā Layout.astro
ā āāā pages/
ā āāā index.astro
āāā package.json
Astro looks for .astro
or .md
files in the src/pages/
directory. Each page is exposed as a route based on its file name.
There's nothing special about src/components/
, but that's where we like to put any Astro/React/Vue/Svelte/Preact components.
Any static assets, like images, can be placed in the public/
directory.
All commands are run from the root of the project, from a terminal:
